Symptom guide · A changing or receding hairline

Why is my hairline receding?

Your hairline is something you see every day. A change at the temples or around your face can feel very personal. When you speak with us, start with what looks different and when you first noticed it.

A CLEAR STARTING POINT

A receding hairline may occur with pattern hair loss, but repeated pulling, skin conditions and other causes can also affect the edges. Get the cause checked before choosing a treatment.

Describe the change precisely.

Is the change at the temples, across the front or in one small area? Have you noticed short broken hairs, eyebrow changes, soreness or itching? These details are more useful to an assessor than trying to match yourself to an online hairline chart.

Consider how the hair is worn.

Repeated tension from tightly pulled styles can damage the hair and follicles. If a style pulls or hurts, loosen it rather than treating discomfort as normal. This does not establish why your own hairline has changed, but your styling history is worth mentioning.

Assessment comes before a clinic plan.

A new, progressing or worrying change should be discussed with a healthcare professional. If there are patches, pain or scalp inflammation, seek advice before a cosmetic procedure. Becky can then explain the clinic services without assuming one treatment fits every kind of recession.

Can a clinic promise to restore my old hairline?

No. Suitability and likely benefit depend on the cause and individual circumstances. Ask about the limitations as well as the possible benefits.

Should I keep wearing tight styles while I decide?

Avoid ongoing pulling or painful tension. Discuss gentle styling choices and get advice about any persistent change.
