Improved hair density after a course of PRP
PRP-treated scalp areas gained more hair density than saline-treated areas after three sessions.
Gentile et al. · 2015An individual treatment using a concentrated part of your own blood, considered for suitable types of hair thinning.

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, uses a sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate platelets in plasma before scalp injections. Platelets release signalling proteins called growth factors. Researchers are investigating how these signals may influence hair follicles and the hair-growth cycle.
It involves a blood sample and scalp injections. It is considered for suitable hair-thinning concerns after consultation, rather than selected from a symptom alone.

Alves & Grimalt · 2016Clinical trials have reported improvements in hair density with PRP for pattern hair loss. In randomised comparisons, PRP-treated scalp areas gained more density than areas treated with saline placebo. These findings provide a positive basis for discussing PRP after the cause of your thinning and individual suitability have been assessed.
These studies involved limited numbers of participants and specific PRP preparations. Your treatment plan, the cause of hair loss and individual response all matter. A consultation helps set a suitable course and realistic review points; results vary.

Talk to Becky about your next stepPRP may be considered for some forms of hair thinning. Whether it is appropriate depends on the cause of the loss, your scalp and your health history. It is not a treatment for every type of hair loss. A GP assessment can help establish the cause first.
Discuss your medical history, medicines, suitability, possible benefits and alternatives at consultation. Tenderness, bruising, swelling and infection are possible risks. Becky will explain the preparation and aftercare relevant to your appointment.
The clinic’s 12-week programme includes three PRP and microneedling sessions spaced four weeks apart. A separate treatment schedule or maintenance plan should be discussed individually. Results vary, and regrowth is not guaranteed.
Understand what the evidence can tell you, what it cannot promise and how to discuss a realistic plan before paying for PRP.

A course may be discussed, but the appropriate number of appointments depends on your individual circumstances. Ask about the full plan and cost before deciding.
