Microneedling makes controlled, tiny punctures in the scalp. Research for hair loss is developing, and it is not suitable for every scalp condition or a guaranteed route to regrowth.
What is actually done to the scalp?
A device with fine needles creates small, controlled punctures. The practitioner should explain the equipment, proposed approach and how comfort is managed. Do not assume that the device or method you have seen in a social video is identical to the procedure offered at your appointment.
What does research tell us about hair growth?
Microneedling has been studied as part of some hair-loss treatment approaches, including combinations with other therapies. Evidence and suitability depend on the condition and method. A reported benefit in one study does not justify promising the same outcome to every clinic visitor.
Are there reasons to postpone or avoid it?
Some scalp conditions can be worsened by microneedling, so active symptoms and health history need individual review. Ask about risks, preparation, aftercare and what to do if an unexpected problem occurs. An online questionnaire cannot check the scalp or replace this discussion.
Is a home device a direct substitute?
Do not treat a home roller as equivalent to a professionally assessed procedure. Devices and the way they are used can differ. Ask an appropriate healthcare professional before needling your scalp, particularly if there is irritation, an undiagnosed condition or hair loss whose cause has not been established.
How is it offered at this clinic?
The published individual price is £75. Microneedling is also included alongside PRP in the 12-week programme. You can enquire about either without committing to a course. Start by asking what a consultation would establish and why a particular plan might be considered for your own concern.
A conversation starts with you.
At our Hereford clinic, the consultation comes before treatment. We will talk through the appointment, suitability, risks, costs and the questions that matter to you. You do not need to arrive having already decided to go ahead.
